hello, i always put the polish in panel, then i take the polish at slow rpm (about 700 rpm), spreading the polish one or two passes, then rise the speed to 1200 rpm for 3-4 passes, slowing to 700 again for 2 passes and im done.
my machine is KEN 9518E.

this is the pic.
i use "this" amount polish for half engine hood

after 1 pass with 700 rpm

after 2x pass @ 700 rpm, 4x @ 1200, 2x @ 700

i do it to all engine hood and roof, after that, this is the pad

i wash it 3 times, but if i press the pad, you can see the "trapped polish"

after 4 times of wash, the polish still trapped inside the pad

You shouldn't have to boil the pad, as this may cause premature wear. You simply need to wash in a mild detergent (liquid grease-cutting dish soap or a degreaser) with warm water, gently compressing or squeezing the pad to work the product out of it. Repeat as necessary, and rinse. You might find it easier to press the pad against the bottom or side of the bucket or sink with the palm of your hands.

You're using the correct amount of polish so that's not the problem. What sort of soap are you using?

I always use dish-washing detergent for the more oily polishes like PP.

Our pad expert suggests a 5 gallon pail, filled with 4 gallons of hot water. Put in 1-1.5 cups APC (an all-purpose cleaner such as Simple Green). Let soak for 20-30 minutes. Agitate with hands in the solution, then rinse and let dry.

I would suggest you squeeze the pad, if necessary, during the agitation step. I like to use my knuckles and press against the face of the pad to squeeze it at the bottom of the pail. Your mileage may vary. Don't wring or twist, but simply squeeze. You may need to rinse under warm running water until clean.

As I mentioned before, I found Optimum Power Clean to work well. It is an all purpose cleaner but if you compare "all purpose cleaners" they vary a lot in chemical composition and therefore effectiveness and safety to you or what is being cleaned.

I think the key is you need a cleaner with degreasers since I assume power polish is an oil. I have used a dishwashing detergent like Dawn too but it is thick and if you use too much it can be difficult to rinse out itself.

My technique now is to spray the pad directly with Optimum (have used other products too in the past) full strength so the cleaner goes directly in the pad pores. I may let it dwell 15 to 30 secs.

I then put the pad under a strong flow of running water and squeeze the pad repeated to push out the embedded product. I will repeat several times. I may soak in a bucket of warm water and some APC (velcro up) and repeat the squeezing process in the bucket.

I have not had an issues with the velcro coming off the pads but I know it can happen depending on pad maker, pad type, etc. based upon comments from others.

Mothers new all wheel and tire cleaner seems like a very effective degreaser. It is safe on rubber so I wonder if this could be used on pads in a pinch? I know you probably cannot get that in Indonesia yet.
