Default First-time applying Reflections Advanced Car Wax

My first-time applying Reflections Advanced Car Wax! After claying, I applied it to the front fender of the silver car just for a test.
Some questions need answers:
1. The wax is quite thick, not too sure to apply how much is enough, or just like what I did in the 3-step?
2. How long to wait before buff off of the Advanced wax? 15 mins? Or just buff after it gets haze?
3. Does this Advanced wax requiring a certain curing time before I apply Top Coat? If so, how long will that be? ( today is humid weather ). I intend to apply Top Coat right after the Advanced Wax is buffed off.

thx

Default Re: First-time applying Reflections Advanced Car Wax

cntlaw,

Apply just a little product at a time to the applicator -- about 1" or 2.5 centimeters in diameter -- basically, as you would the 3-step. When you start with a fresh applicator, it can be beneficial to spray it a few times with some Showtime before applying the product just to add a little moisture.

As with most wax products, after Reflections Car Wax starts to haze you can check its progress by a gentle wipe of your finger on the haze -- if it streaks, wait a while longer; if it comes off clean, you're ready to remove with a towel.

You can apply Reflections Top Coat immediately after using Reflections Car Wax. Check the status of the haze as described above.

Default Report and Photos

Spent three consective days to complete the Reflections 2-Step. Rewarded with a Brilliant Silver Diamond, extremely gloss & crystal clear and of course my back hurts !

Process used:-

1. The car was washed and clayed a week ago but not been driven. Before I started, I cleaned the car once more with very little Showtime. The weather had been less humid and both products were able to get harden and hazy within 1-2 hours before buff off.

2. Reflections Advanced Car Wax. I found that this product smells very nice, so addicted to it!. The wax is thicker than S&G, so I occasionally moisted the applicator with a bit of showtime and it went smoothly. As I used only one applicator pad (knew I should have used two), the 'cleaner' had transferred a lot of dirts to the pad. Great, it cleans too!

3. After Reflections Advanced Car Wax applied, the car is crystal clear and clean, very shiny already. The gloss was not yet as intense as after Top Coat is applied. Like the SG, not feeling a bit of greasy.

4. Top Coat, this time, for some reasons, I like the smell of it. Top Coat is much thiner and lighter, very easy to apply. It was like a lady putting on face cream something. Anyone has not tried this, I must say it is a new experience. I was using very little at a time and Top Coat is so easy to spread across a larger area. I must say the application effort is just half of the Reflections Advanced Car Wax!

5. When came to the final buff stage, with the help of a MF paper moisted with a bit of Show time, the product is very easy to remove completely with just one piece of the suggested (fantastic) Mothers Polishing Towel.

Frankly, I could not control myself to stop taking photos of this piece of fine jewel. Mothers Reflections series products is bringing this 3 years old car a complete new look! The result is much better than the time when I only applied Top Coat over the 3-step.

Reflections Advanced Car Wax was doing a very good job in sealing, the paint is felt as smooth and clean as there were Carnuaba wax on it.

In the photos, you will find some parts of the car still have residues that would be something I will catch up tommorrow with a new Mothers Detailing Towel and better lighting and recovered sore hands.
( sorry, the dirty exhausts pipes need chrome cleaner , I know )

I have to agree... That's great work.

Are you also going to test the Reflections Wax and Top Coat on your black car?

How many applicators did you use for the wax and top coat?

I also discovered amazon.com sells a good selection Mothers products. The prices are not as good as waxstation but for many products the shipping is free so it may be cheaper overall.

Yesterday we have a hot day reaching 30c ! Perhaps my experiments shall pause for the moment.

Practically speaking, I found S&G in the 3-step is very capable to minimize minor scratches on the Jet Black E90. Since I have just completed the 3-step, I will only top it up with Carnuaba Wax for this moment.

I was wrong to use only one applicator for applying the Reflections Advanced Car Wax. The cleaner in the Reflections Advanced Car Wax was very effective to remove lots of substances from the paint. I suggest at least 2 (best 3) applicators should be used for this phase.
For Top Coat, just one for the whole car will be enough.
