    Rank Amateur`s Job

After all the advice you guys gave, I figure I`d better post pictures of my ride....

Took these this morning after the wife and I worked on the car last night.

It`s Klasse AIO with 3 coats of Meguiar`s Quik Wax (finishing this bottle before I order PB`s QD+).
Tires are No Touch Tore Foam (on sale from Costco)

Other than that, it`s been fun working on it. The interior is next - time for leather cleaning/conditioning.

Once again, thanks for all the advice and patience.

    Thumbs up

    Lookin` good!
Is the car black or a very dark blue? With all of the reflection, it really looks like the dark blue, but I`m not sure. Heck, maybe even dark green.

    Thanks guys!

To answer the questions - the color is a dark blue - they call it Twilight Blue. In some light it looks black, and in others it looks like a very dark blue. Definitely a very unique color and is one that you don`t see too much of.

About the wife - that was the strange thing. I "bribed" her to help me (after we went to DQ) wax the car, as she`s always complaining I spend too much time working on it. So, after we start and get into it, she begins to get very anal about things - getting into doorjambs and cracks and such. I couldn`t beleive it - she was getting as anal as me about it! And this is from someone who I had to tell to wash the Bird S#!T off her car after 2 days and who, when I told her I wanted to clean her car real good said "don`t - it will just get dirty again".... I hope I didn`t start the creation of a monster!

And, yes - there are plenty of swirls/microscratches there. I think it may have had to do with my wash routine this winter (before I knew any better) - hose off at the coin op and then towel dry. I plan to hit it up with some SSR1 soon to take care of them. Now that I`m more careful and I know what I`m doing I`ll never just wash/dry again. (Forgive me Father, I have sinned...

I go nuts when I see people at the self serve wash drying thier car after they wash it there. Do they really think it is clean enough to be dragging a cloth accross thier paint.

Granted it is a bad thing, but yes, they do think it is clean. Afterall they just washed their car, right.
Keep in mind that much of the motoring public actually thinks those quicky washes do a good enough job on their cars to never use anything else. Maybe there are some that do get a vehicle clean, but I don`t think I have ever seen one that did.

    newbie04,

It`s really great that your wife helped you out like that. Maybe this will become a husband-wife thing!! Hey, beats her dragging you off to ballet!

Thanks again for the kind words. If I could just keep the pollen off the car it would look awesome.

I know I was very bad, but it was the winter and we had a lot of freezing and ice here in PA. So I figured it was good to get the salt off the car. But I didn`t want to use the brush thingy that they have at the coin op, so I just hit it with rinse water and then soap, and then final rinse. MF Towel dry.

Now I know better and it won`t happen agian. I`m going to be spending a lot of time on the car with SSR1 (and possibly 2) sometime this summer fixing the errors of my ways.
