Default Paint care on a new car

Greetings,

I am a happy owner of a new Honda Accord 2011 (volcano gray metallic, European version, equivalent to Acura TSX in US). I know nothing about paint care and please excuse me if I ask ridiculous question but heard my friend saying that waxing new car isn't good for paint. Is this true? Does waxing affect anything in a wrong way? I use "Mothers 20016 FX SynWax" and "Meguiar's M2611 #26 Yellow Wax Paste" waxes.

Thank,

zol

Welcome to waxforum.com!

Not waxing a new car is a mistake in my opinion, and the urban legend of not needing to is wrong.

Cars are painted in a bare shell, and heat cured at high temperatures before being assembled. When the vehicle leaves the factory, the paint can, and should be, protected.

I'd suggest washing, then claying to remove contaminants from shipping, before applying your FX SynWax.
