    Question Fantastic for cleaning vinyl?

It was recently posted on a boating web-site that a manufacturer of boats recommended using Fantastic for cleaning vinyl upholstery. 409 was definitely not recommended.
The mfg. also recommended using 303 after using the Fantastic.

Right now, I use either Meg`s APC+ (12:1) or a Woolite solution )6:1) for vinyl. Switching to Fantastic has one major benefit. I could steal it from my wife`s cleaning products and thereby remove it from my detailing budget.

    Anyway, thoughts, comments?

I would think its a bit harsh for regular use on vinyl. I always like to use the gentlest product that will do the job. I might use something like fantastic for a tough stain, but I don`t think I would use it for regular cleaning. It has a PH around 12 I believe. Just a little too strong IMHO.

Just read the label on a bottle of Fantastic.
It doesn`t list vinyl cleaning as one of its intended uses, but it also doesn`t say not to use it on vinyl.:dunno
It just seemed that if the original boat manufacturer recommended it, it should be safe.
I guess I will stick with my APC+ and Woolite for now.

I bought some of that stuff at the dollar store last week . It works great . For $1 you can`t bet it . You can use it full strength or dilute it how ever you like it .

When I use an all-purpose cleaner such as 409 or Simple Green to clean interior vinyl, I try to dilute it as much as I can. Enough to where it isn`t so harsh on the surface, but not so much that it doesn`t clean. On a well cared for surface, usually you can go with an extremely diluted solution...say 1 or 2 oz for a 32 oz spray bottle.

On really dirty surfaces, I have even used 5-1 or even 1-1 solutions of Simple Green. (usually on arm rests, steering wheels, shifter handles etc.)

    Charles,

If it`s not too much trouble, I would like to know the name of the boat manufacturer that recommended using Fantastic for cleaning vinyl upholstery?

Did that same manufacturer actually say that 409 was definitely not recommended?

    No problem at all.
    Check your PM`s.
Remember, it was information taken from the internet so I can`t vouch for the authenticity. You know how it is with the stuff you read on these message boards.

I`m familar with Awesome, I`d still stay away from it when cleaning vinyl.
Treat it like it`s the only one in the world.

It`s diluted Simple Green for me. It works great to clean and wipe away tough stains.

I emailed the boat manufacturer, asking about their recommendations for cleaning vinyl upholstery and have not received a reply.
