Default Ford F-150 Aluminum Tailgate Trim.

    • I have a 1995 Ford F-150,and on the Tailgate there is an Aluminum Trim Panel. And mine has a White Haze on the Aluminum that I can't seem to get off,I've tried a few things & they seem to work but just after a few Minutes the Haze starts coming back.I've heard the Trim has a Clear Coating from the Factory, and it would make sense to why Aluminum Polish's aren't working. So I wanted to ask what would work to get the White Haze Polished off for good? Here is a Picture of the Piece I'm talking about. Thanks

I believe that piece is anodized. Admin will chime in when he gets a chance.

If anodized, it's a hard thin coating that can't easily be restored.

The white haze is damage to the clear anodized finish -- usually oxidation or water spots. Unfortunately there's not much you can do to fix that.

If it looks good while wet, you might try a trim dressing in a test spot and see if that makes it look better; it won't hurt, but until you know if it's going to be an improvement, save the effort by just doing a small spot.
