    Oxidized Boat

Had a chance to help a friend with his boat a couple of weeks ago. This is a very nice boat but in 4 years has never had any type of protective coating on it. It spent this winter outside in pretty harsh Utah weather. I`ve got a couple of before and after pictures. They don`t really show how well this boat actually came out. It had a lot of oxidation, you can see this looking at the upper stripe in the before pictues.

Here`s a little better look at the oxidized stripe.

#1 - Washed the boat with Meguiar`s Flagship Premium Marine Wash.

#2 - Followed it up with Meguiar`s Marine Heavy Oxidation Remover.

#3 - Next we used Meguiar`s Marine Color Restorer.

#4 - Finished it up with Meguiar`s Boat/RV Pure Wax.

    * - Used the PC with W-7006 pad to remove the oxidation in step #2.

    * - For the last 2 steps we used the W-8006 polishing pad. I didn`t really feel like the gel coat on this boat would respond much differently using a finishing pad so we just used another polishing pad.

    Here`s one of the afters.

Here`s the last pic. These pictures really don`t do the boat justice. Not quite as much detail as I would have liked but I think you can get the idea. The owner was very happy with the result.

    Mark,

Now those are some before and afters!! Great work my man

I have used those Meg`s products, and while they do a great job on the boats, they are a PITA to remove :angry

Regardless of the work, the boat turned out way better than what it did before!

    Nick,

Thanks and your right. The color restorer was tough to get off. This is my first time using these products. I tried both AIO and MPPP to take the oxidation off and it wouldn`t touch it. I used the marine product and it came off fairly easy and was O.K. to remove, in all fairness I stepped up to the cutting pad at the same time. One of others may have worked with that pad. The wax wasn`t too bad either but that color restorer... oh well, live and learn.

It`s not a roll bar, it`s used to mount the line to pull a skier.

I was hoping he knew that beings he had the laughing icon. They use the hi-bar like this for wake boarders and a little lower for skiers. What the heck do I know, I`m not a boater. It`s a 500+ cubic inch big block Chevy. He`s says the boat will do 75 m.p.h. though. I think it`s pretty fast.
