    Machine polishing.

I have been using Meguiars pads and polishes for awhile now and I am comfortable taking my rotary to almost any paint with the Meguiars pads and polishes. What I am wondering is what you guys do for greater shine.

I have a system which usually is using a Meguiars yellow polishing pad as my final pad using a polish like Swirl Free, DACP, or High Temp Light Cut. I find that with the polishing pad and these products I get great shine and no swirls. I have a couple of the tan finishing pads in the shop and I havent ever tried them yet cause I seem to be in the habit of finishing with the yellow pad. Can the finishing pad really enhance the gloss? Do you use polish with the tan pads or are they only good for applying wax or sealant?

I am thinking about this occasionally and wondered what you guys used the tan pads for. I love the High Temp Light Cut and the Swirl Free with the yellow pad. Is there a step you take after this to achieve a better finish?

Just to make it clear I am talking about a rotary buffer not a random orbital.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

    Hey John,

I don`t use Megs pads with my rotary but I would definitely recommend following with the finishing pad. I think you`ll see a nice difference in the final product.

If you`re not sure, the next time you do a car. Do a section using the finishing pad after the cutting pad and compare.

    Thanks Ringo.

One question though. When you use the finishing pads are you using a wax or sealant or are you using a very light polish?

    Thanks,
    John

Either John, I use it with the PC, but even with the rotary it`s better to use it last with a fine polish, to improve surface. Sometimes it works even better with a rotary (slow speed).
