    Question How long?

Just curious as to how long some of you spend washing your vehicle when you have plenty of time.
Tonight, I did a leisurely wash & dry on the GTP.
Wheels, tires, wheelwells, engine wipe down, headlight covers, door jambs, trunk, windows in & out. Nothing special although the car was pretty dirty from all the rain we have had, and no hurry. From the time I started getting stuff, (buckets, brushes, mitts, etc.), out till I had everything put away was one hour and 28 minutes. I would guess that I could do the job in about 45 minutes to an hour if I busted my buns, but doing it at that pace was quite relaxing. As I have said before, it is my golf and I like to enjoy it, not try to rush through it.
That`s what I do when I mow the lawn.
How much time do some of you hobby detailers spend on a typical wash job?

It depends on the size of the vehicle. For a smaller car, a leisurely hose and 2 bucket wash would take me about an hour and 15 minutes (including getting out and putting away all the "stuff"). For an SUV, it would be about 20 minutes longer. I usually try to wash at least 2 cars at a time, so that cuts down on my setup and tear down time per vehicle.

When I want a perfect job, it takes a little over an hour. When I`m in a rush and I know its gonna rain the next day, I can do the whole thing in about a half hour. The differance is substantial up close, but not really noticable from 10 feet back. It all depends on how much attention you pay to the details.
