Washing with hot or cold water?

Is there a significant difference when washing. Does the water temp. make any difference?

I always start with fairly hot water for cleaning and comfort reasons. I`m sure I could clean the car with icy-cold water, but warm water does clean better and is much easier on the hands. It is never really hot because i`ll fill my wash bucket about halfway with hot water and then give it a top off with the hose outside, so the most it ever gets is moderately warm.

I like to use warm water too. I have hot and cold water running to my hose, so at least I can adjust it. I try to somewhat match the rise water with the temperature. I don`t like putting hot water on cold paint, or cold water on a warm paint surface.
