    Scraped a Pole

Well, I had a nice experience when I left work today. I park in a parking garage, and I was not paying attention when I left. As I pulled out of my space, I scraped a structural support column. These are 3` x 3` cement columns. I was going about 2 mph. The estimate is $1800. I guess I don`t have to worry about using SSR2.5 to remove that microscratch on the rear bumper any more.

I don`t think even the mighty MulletWax will make this ride smooth with the ladies anymore. A paint job is all that`s in store here.

    It happens.

First day out w/ my truck I backed into a concrete pole and knocked the mirror off... lol... Luckily it popped back on...

So far I`ve backed into a telephone post, driven over one of those wooden stakes used to hold up a rope down a pathway, and back into a building. I`ve also had two cars back into my truck in parking lots. I love my metal bumpers... haha... Ohh... and in grocery store parking lots I don`t care if there is a basket in a spot... a light tap w/ the bumper moves them...

Oh yes - a new bumper cover, and new rear quarter panel, and about 30 hours of paint time on the estimate for insurance.

Interestingly, about a year ago, my Envoy was hit at 70mph while I was stopped on the freeway. Rear bumper took all the damage. The car that hit me was totaled. The envoy took the hit with only $2000 in damage. Now I scrape the pole at 2 mph and $1800. I am not getting my money`s worth here. I should have rammed the pole at 50mph.

    Doh, is right!

Well you can always go back and hit it at 50 MPH and see if it changes your estimate

I know not funny ... Sorry you had the mishap ... It sucks.

Looks like a better candidate for BFH (big... hammer) practice!

Why so much paint time? 30 hours sounds like a lot, but I`m not too educated about that stuffs.

I think they said they could repaint in 12 hours, but to get the Orange Peel effect, it takes the extra 18 hours.

On my daily driver General Motors threw in the orange peel. I think it was orange peel or cash back and the salesman talked me into the orange peel. The robot that paints at GM used to work in a refrigerator plant.

Very sorry to see this happen. It does hurt alot I know.

I had a 90 Beretta GTZ - black. I took really good care of it - though all I knew was to wash and wax then. Nevertheless, in the 7 years I had it - I never got one door ding!!

I did however have two guys fight near it and end up on the trunk, the hood and one of their heads put a really big foot-wide dent in the side of it. I had something in the garage fall into it and put a gouge in it - the garage was the dealerships - not mine and at least two times people backed into the bumpers and put scrapes on them and some guy back his truck in the hood doing about 1800.00 in damage.

I never caused any damage myself - but the car seemed to attract it from everyone else when all it was doing was just sitting there minding it`s own business.
