today 2 bikes and a boat (pics)

So you know it`s an unusual day when you spend 10 hours detailing three vehicles and you don`t touch a car, truck, van, suv, or bus. Today was awesome!

You may have read my thread about a strange request for cleaning a boat. Customer wanted me to use a 50/50 vinegar and water mix to clean. Turns out the boat wasn`t new but to the owner. I asked the secretary why she said it was new and she said because it was detailed before the owner bought it and it was only in the water once after that. Whatever!!! It doesn`t mean crap that it was detailed before if the detail was crap, and it was. Sorry didn`t take before pics.

Bad exposure, notice the bottle of vinegar on the top. I used the whole thing to remove water spots, worked nicely I must say.

look at my van in the reflection, what a shine!

All I did was clean and wax, took me 5 hours. Those angles sucked!

You`ll see this bike on Ebay sometime soon. It is a Borghet. Valued at $30,000. The pewter bike was bought to replace this orange one. Can you believe the owner replaced it because he thought the paint was too loud? That`s what bikes are all about! Standing out! I like this orange one better than the other.

2nd picture. Looks wicked. I don`t think I`d be too comfortable going a long distance though. I`ll stick to my comfy Roadstar.

Nice work. I would keep the orange bike because it looks to be a softtail, which makes for a nice ride.

Which model Yamaha RS do you have?

When do you detail the benz?

detailing boats can be the pits, It`s worse when the hull is ribbed.

Would like to see the shine you can get on that Benz

Very nice Denver, it seems that you have been doing really well for yourself and you are a nice contribution to this forum. How long have you been in business and how long did it take you to get this well established?

    Thanks everyone!

Today turned out to be one of those really sweet days. Everything went smooth.

J Rawls, I`ve been in biz for about 14 months. Its taken me 14 months to get as established as I am. I have bigger goals though and am working hard to get there. Ideally, I would like to be an extremely high end and exclusive detailer to the rich and lazy who obssess about car care. Ok, that sounds corny but its true. I currently have four of these clients. They alone net me roughly $1600 a month. Not enough to live on much less flourish on. So I guess my goal is to service nothing but these people. Untill then, I`ll extract baby puke out of mini-vans and buff neglected black 1991 honda accords.

I want to be a snooty hoity toity detailer who turns his nose up at unworthy rides!

How about this for a dream:
I`m the detailer who`s service you can only solicite after buying your car brand new. If its got more than 3000 miles and I haven`t seen it, sorry, its too late. Annual contracts are required for 12 months with a three month deposit. And I will be so busy that I can`t take on new clients unless one cancels and then bidding wars between future clients happen so they can retain my graces for their car.
I`ve been busy but I`ll try to make some time.

Wow 14 months isn`t very long at all! Did you start out part time or did you just go balls to the wall to begin with?

I would love to be where you`re at in just one year but right now I wouldn`t even think about quitting my job. Of course, that is my dream but I have to take things one step at a time.

If you don`t mind me asking, what kind of marketing plan did you use to acquire your first customers?
