Unhappy Getting insurance on a new detailing business

    Hey Guys,

I just got registered today. This is a great site. Looking to start a mobile service part time in Virginia, I cant believe how high liability insurance is for this type of work. Can anyone help me?

    Thanks again.

I feel your pain! Same problem here in NJ...insurance is sky high no matter if your mobile or at a fixed location.

I basically had take a position that I simply do not drive customers vehicles. Not even to move them a few feet. If you have to go with a Gragage Keepers Policy you can expect to pay dearly...especially for a new, start-up biz. Insurance companies really stick it to new businesses.

    Reasons for high rates:
    1. Fewer Insurance companies writing policies
    2. Majority of Start-up detailing businesses do not last
    3. High claim rate due to improper use of rotary buffer, auto accidents

I was told the above by an ins. agent
