Default metallic paint

Hey Guys,
I am new to this form. I have a 2008 GMC Sierra Crew with Stealth Gray Metallic paint. When I got the truck the metallic in the paint was great. Now I am trying to get that shine back and have tried others brands on the market but, no good. A friend told me to use Mothers brand but I am not sure which one will be the best. Any ideas?

Thanks, Joe

Welcome to Wax Forum!

Your 2008 would be a clearcoat metallic, and there's several different approaches you could take. I'll talk our products, and you could substitute for something you already have.

I'd do a thorough wash with California Gold Car Wash.

Detail the trim with our Protectant or Back-to-Black -- leave it "wet" as this will give it a chance to penetrate as well as repel any polishes or waxes from staining.

I'd definitely use our California Clay Bar if you haven't clayed recently.

You can try FX SynWax and PowerBall 4Paint (a sample of FX SynWax is included in PowerBall 4Paint). FX SynWax has very mild polishes, not really meant for oxidized paint, so if that doesn't polish well enough to bring back the shine, I'd try our California Gold Carnauba Cleaner Wax (liquid or paste -- I like the paste) or our 3-step Ultimate Wax System, if you don't mind the extra steps.

A photo or two might be helpful if it's not too much trouble.

Thanks for our reply.

I live in NY and we are currently having a two punch snow storm. It should start to melt next week with temps in the forties. I will send some photos then. Thanks again. Joe.
