runnerbl,
I`ve seen a few of those "clay in the pad" things................. and just don`t trust them. Used improperly, clay can cause plenty of swirls/spider webs. If I did a lot of claying, I might try to get one and perfect the process. However, I don`t clay that often, and when I do clay, I like to "feel" what the clay is doing.
I don`t trust that crap either. I mean, it does not take long to do it by hand and when you do it by hand you can kneed the clay bar, where as in the pad you would have to take it out to do that.
:yeah
My preference is to be able to knead the clay bar frequently and using a PC to clay a vehicle is just increasing your chances of induces scratches/swirls as Boss said. I guess I would question whether it would really save you much time or remove any more contaminants than claying by hand. :dunno
Yah that thing looks scary - what happens if a "chunk" gets stuck in the clay going round and round at thousands of RPM`s?
You have activated my special ability....
What would happen if you hit an edge or a piece of trim... removing wax is one thing... clay to me seams like it might be a biatch.
I add a little bit of experience about clay... I once sat in a meeting back in 1989 with a nation-wide detailing company where the owner, (who I will leave nameless, if you are reading this you know exactly who you are) was offered the free exclusive North American rights to distribute both the red and the blue claybars from the manufacturer. To which he replied "We are not in the business of selling products, we detail cars..." Afterwards I told him he was @#$% crazy and tried to explain to him what he was passing up... needless to say I didn`t work for him for much longer. And looking at recent judgments awarded to the Auto Wax Company, Inc. and seeing it on the shelves of every major store from coast to coast, I once again would like to remind him if he`s still in business, and still has "stupid towel pushers" (as we were called) working for him that when life hands you a golden chicken, don`t pass it off to KFC.
A happy customer tells a friend ... An unhappy one tells many friends !!!
Gim-me a car with finns... :naughty and I`ll shows ya what detailin`s all about... :jump
I would not recommend this "clay in a PC pad" Doing it the old fashion way by hand is the only way. There are just too many things that could go wrong with the clay in the PC pad.

Some people are just oblivious to incredible business ventures that can yield extraordinary returns....i think he learned his lesson.
I thikn the correct term to describe that guy is.....Schmuck.
In regards to that claying rotary thingy....it spells DANGER! Claying should be done by hand in a to-and-fro motion, not in a circular orbit.
Also, i often knead and re-knead the clay one it gets filthy....one small impurity in the clay and you will induce some SERIOUS damage to the paint. STay away from that product.
