    Question performance

I was wondering if any of you have used or know of someone that has used the hypertech tuner for a durango?...I have a 99 slt with the 5.9 with a magnaflo catback, k&n cold air and injection kit, and jet performance chip.

The jet chip is garbage and i would like to get some info on the tuner from those other than sales reps.

    Any info will be appreciated!

I deal with a high performance shop that deals wtih Ford, Lincoln, Mercury products. The mechanics say that the hypertechs on ther products work for a short period of time. The owners say they have to reprogram every so often. This is on Ford products and may be differant on others, but it is a consumer report.
I treat them all like they are my very own.

You dont really have a need to retune the computer until you do some more work. I would start by finishing off the exhaust. Then do some engine work H/C/I.

Mufflers and a K&N are by no means a big enough list of mods to require a remapping of A/F ratios, spark advancing, and so on.

I agree They are just minor mods that give a little more throttle response and sound. I Kenne Bell Super charger for the 5.9 would be a nice upgrade they make a nice one for the Crysler 4.7 Engines also.

I hate getting blown by a belt, turbocharging is the only boost worth having

Supercharging also requires an engine to work harder to acheive more. Turbochaging is usese exhaust gases which you currently just throw away.

Plus turbo lag is a thing of the past, spooling is now a VERY short build up time, usually no more than 1 second to full boost on a normal sized turbocharger, even with a restrictive post turbocharger exhaust setup.

No there will not be a sc vs tc argument on this board. There are advantages to each but they are both very reasonalbe and efficient ways to increase hp. You pick which one you want depending on what your looking to get from your engine.

I`m with Koop. Without starting a pissin` match, you have to remember that you cannot beat physics. Either method has distinct advantages and both pull a little power out of the engine in order to get more power back out.

Im just a big fan of turbochargers for one main reason, its different. Remember, I run with the Mustang crowd. S/c is a very popular thing among us, but turbochargers are very rare on a car such as mine. I like to be different, and I L-O-V-E the sound of spooling turbocharger. Thats not to say the whine of a supercharger is not nice.

Plus, Porsche and Saab are infamous for their turbocharging. But I will admit that some of the Carrera 4 cars that run around have been supercharged with quite desirable results.
