    best application for PB`s products...

hey all. i ordered some SSR2, VM, and EX-P. i have 2 cars i am going to tackle. i would like to ask the experts the best method of application for the above products. some or all by PC? which pads and what settings? both cars have heavy to moderate swirls and scratches. i have a PC with cutting, polishing and finishing pads.

Nice to see more people joining from Autopia! I would reccomend using SSR2 with either a cutting or polishing pad depending on the condition of the paint, and how many pads you have. I would then use VM with a polishing pad and EX-P is up to you. I`m sure by hand or with the finishing pad will work fine. This past weekend I did a pretty bad 740i and used SSR2.5(yellow pad) then VM(polishing pad) and was amazed at how easy they were to work with. This was my first time using the PC, and got the hang of it pretty fast. I also did my cousin`s Explorer last week and was using the current fad(VM+EX-P), I applied EX-P by hand, let it sit for 30 mins then buff out. It was one of the easiest products to remove, plus it smells great!

:yeah james it woulds also depend on which brand of pads you are using...I would stick to polishing and finishing pads unless there is some severe paint damage or you are planning on doing multiple passes. My rule of thumb has always been to let the product do the work not the pad:dunno

    thanks guys.

whats up JaCkaL829! yeah, i stumbled upon this great site by accident. Poorboy, i have LC pads, and a Meguires burgundy pad. should i dampen the pad first? the product should be worked until it turns to powder right? 3-5 minutes? also, will the SSR2 leave hazing on either the black or silver paint?

You can and probably should dampen the pad, but you don`t have to. Afterwhile the pad will be saturated with product so you should be fine. SSR2 is really easy to work, just keep going over it to a point where it has very little residue and is dusty. Time might vary depending on your environment, but just do alot of overlaps and work it nice and easy. It shouldnt haze at all, if it does your using to much abrasiveness.

    Hope I could help :jump

yes what Woob said , I prefer not to dampen pads with SSR`s ...and also it would be the pad that would be too abrasive(cutting pad) if you had hazing

    thanks guys.

but if hazing does occur, how should i go about removing it. use SSR2 with a polishing pad or order some SSR1? i have some 3M PI III Machine Glaze on hand also.

sorry to ask so many questions! just trying to get it right the first time!

I think you answered your own question...you could go to a polishing pad, or get some SSR1 or PwC, or try the 3m
