Turtle Wax makes a great one. I know that seems weird to hear someone say, but its true. The one in the yellow spray can is excellent. Just don`t get any of the other ones except for that one. Yellow spray can. Not the spray bottle, get the can. It is really impressive. Especially effective on tree sap. It eats bugs really fast too. I have had great success on road tar too.

I like to use Prep-Solv or Pre-Clean-O for removing tar, road grime, and stubborn bugs. It can be found at most automotive paint supply stores. Due to AQMD standards, it might not be available in all areas; but if you ask at any paint store, they provide you with a similar product such as PPG`s DX320 or 330.

IMO Xenit Citrus from Stoner is the best, tar just drips off and wont harm paint or plastic.

The other day a local guy sold me "One Grand Wax and Tar Remover" 16 oz for $5. One Grand doesnt get much of a following besides some Blitz and Omega Glaze, but the Wax and Tar Remover proved to be a good find. Got rid of customer`s nasty white wax stains from years ago that had caked on the bumper. Also got rid of some nasty tar off area behind wheel wells.
