Unhappy Dark streaks after buffing out

Hi, after wiping off the wax residue from using my Porter Cable buffer to apply wax to my car, I noticed that there were dark streaks in certain parts. Wiping with a soft cloth didnt remove them. You have to really look but they were noticeable to me. what would cause those dark streaks? I did wash the wax pad the day before with water. so the pad was still moist. also I had polished and wax by hand a couple of weeks ago I just waxed this time with the P. Cable. COuld leaving the wax on to long before buffing it out cause the problem? By the way the color of my car is a 2001 dark blue metalic.
    thank you,

What type of wax were you using? What were the weather conditions(humidity)? How long did you let it set up?

Just off the top of my head, you can get streaks from:
Using towels for dressing, then on paint - always keep those towels seperate.
Not removing polish/glaze completely, then waxing over.
Not allowing wax to dry enough (applying too thick so it doesn`t dry through easily) before reomoving it.

    Try this:
Let the wax dry further, then try wiping again.
    QD the car.

Don`t worry, nothing is ruined, you just need a tweak in your process.

    Hope this helps a bit.

Question Maybe this was the problem

when I waxed with the machine and then buffed it I didnt polish it before hand since I did that a couple of weeks before by hand. Should I polish, and then wax again? Im using Automagic which has been fine for me. I should have buffed out each section at a time rather than let it sit until the whole hood was done to buff it out. I was wiping pretty hard. the weather was average. no direct sun but the hood was warm from driving.

I would be willing to bet that is the problem.
