    Question What would you charge?

I have to go look at a customers` Ford Windstar tonight to give them a quote on an interior only cleaning including carpet and upholstery shampoo.

They describe it as "very dirty", so what would you charge, worst case scenario?

(I`m thinking of tacking on an extra $30 so I can rent a real extractor. I think a minivan may be a little much for the Little Green Machine.)

    Thanks in advance.

Be careful where you rent an extractor from, some of those things have even less lift than the Little Green Machine.

I would probably charge $75 for the interior only, and thats if its a decently dirty thing. But if we are talking about food, and gum, and various crap that makes you sick to your stomach jsut looking at it, I would say closer to $125.

Oh and make sure you atleast wash the exterior and go over it with a QD spray afterwards. Its a nice touch.

For a dirty minivan I would not hesitate take ask for $75+USD. Ask for more if you need to rent equipment and ask for specs or the manufactor and model when calling for rental prices.

Do not be afraid to ask for the job is worth and for what it will take for you to make money.

    Well, it is pretty dirty:

Light gray carpet (my favorite!) Most of the floor was covered with gray mats, and they are destroyed. I promised them that I would try to pressure wash the mats but couldn`t guarantee they`d come clean. They will probably replace them. The seats are dirty with a fair number of stains but aren`t saturated with dirt and dust. The rest of the surfaces are dusty but no big deal.

I quoted $150 CDN, and I`m giving myself 3 to 4 hours. (I expect to be vaccuming for an hour to an hour and a half).

I`ll try to get pics of before and after.

Good idea, I think I`ll try to remove the seats too.

How long did it take you? (I`ll be fighting darkness after about 3 hours)

    Did a Kiddivan

Just finished a kiddi-van as well. Took me 3.5 hours to complete the inside and I agree compeltely on removing the seats for a couple of reasons.

    1) You can clean the seat easier when it is out, less hunching over.

    2) The inside is easier as you are not working around seats and can get the areas where the seat mounting structures would prohibit cleaning.

In the end, taking the seats out made it a lot easier and probably save me about 30 minutes of time. Don`t forget the back seat cupholders! Kids love to get crud in those, a nice organic break-down cleaner does wonders on kid crud!

I think you probably undercharged them, but if it leads to future work that`s not too bad....

Yes those cup holders are aweful ....spray some cleaner in them and let it sit while you do the rest of the work,..another way to clean them is to use the steam from the steam cleaner to loosen the dirt, gum, snot, etc...

Forget about the mats..tell them it`ll not be worth your time to properly clean them ....it`s more important to get the carpet and seats clean, they are not replacable as easy as mats...

    Smile pics

Here are the pics. 3.5 Hours, $150 Canadian.

They`re very happy and took about 5 extra business cards for their neighbours who came over during the detail and asked them what they were having done.
