Benies of being a "part timer"

Detailing as a part timer or side gig has it drawbacks and shortcomings, no doubt. But it also has its benies! I had the very gratifying pleasure of turning down a job. A neighborhood women with a Toyota mini-van that is really filthy dirty inside and out. I thought about it for a second and politely said, "I don`t do mini-vans anymore". LOL, I just made up my mind right there on the spot that since I can`t stand doing them, I simply am not going to bother anymore. Kinda nice to be able to say that.

Oh my, MINIVANS! I have come to hate them as well. The last one that I did, I asked the lady if she ever vacuumed it out, her reply......"well I sweep it out sometimes" The van was FILTHY, I decided right then that I would not do anymore vans, unless they are spotless!

    Lowballers..

I had a guy try to negociate on my price. I politely referred him to a local detail shop and told him to try and see if they are more flexible with their pricing.

I have (2) steady customers (dealers) so I am fortunate to never have to pay for advertising, and I am also having some great runs in some high end neighborhoods via word of mouth. America is a great country !!! I would much rather be detailing for $$$ than losing $$$ on a golf course !!!

    VANS YUCK!!!!

I must say i hate the mini van jobs also. I work at a dealer during the day so I cant get out of doing them. As a matter of fact I just finished up a Pontiac Montana today. It looked good but those soccer mom vans are a mess. Talk about your all day jobs.:doh

I cant really say I do it as a side buisness but I have a few in the neighborhood that I do for some elderly people and thank god none of them have mini-vans and that the people keep there vehicles cleaned up pretty decent. I have been thinking doing more but I am kinda content at just doing these few as that lets more time for mine...lol
