    Choosing a health club

I am considering joining a gym soon. What kind of things should I be looking for when choosing a gym?

A few items I think I should look for:
    New(er) equipment
    Hours of Operation
    Location
    Cleanliness

    Eric
    Have you AIO`d today?
Done, or Done right? You decide.

Good equipment and lots of it. Good Hours (24 Hour Fitness works for me). Get the lowest monthly rate for the lowest down payment you can, and don`t get sucked into any contracts binding you to that gym. The guys selling those memberships are on commission, so you can usually get a good deal if you play hard to get. Out here 24 Hour Fitness can be joined for $48 down and $24 per month, and that allows you the right to use most of their gyms.

And like Hans said, take a look at the place during "spandex hour" and check out the local talent. Between 6 and 8 pm works for me lol.

I need to get my butt back in the gym I am a member of, but their hours suck. 8AM till 9PM, and I hate going in the middle of the day (4ish)

I am a member of Southside Athletic Club which is owned by Shapes... if anyone has one in their city I would highly recommend this organization.

This club has tons of free weights, Hammer Strength, Cybex, girls, protein smoothies, olympic pool, sauna and the list just goes on and on and on.

I have been a member for over two years... my first two years was $33.00 a month but when I resigned for another two years it went down to $22.00 a month.
