For starters, follow the instructions that came with it - lay it out on newspapers for a day or so to remove the excess wax from the strands.

When using the duster, make sure you hold it above the surface so the strands lightly touch.

Don't press down or use pressure.

Used properly, they're a great addition. Used improperly, they're frustrating.

Btw, the dirtier they get, the better they work.

What Forrest says.

Also, the use of a duster should be different to the use of a cloth. The cloth is used with a wiping motion, and here you are holding the cloth 'on' the painted surface and moving it back and forth.

As Forrest mentions, just the very tips of the fronds should be touching the paint. The wafting back and forth of the duster is the clue here. On a smooth and cleaned paint, that dust will just disappear. You're not exactly wiping it off. The air circulation from the wafting and the tips just touching is what 'flicks off' (for want of a better description) the dust.

Also, second what Forrest says about the dirtier they get, the better they work.

Tony.

They're great for keeping the dust off of a freshly washed and waxed vehicle!
