Default did they use Mother's Plastic Polish to clean interior plastic on "All Girls Garage"?

my DVR is crapping out, the audio AND video was blacking out… I am 90% sure they used Mothers Plastic Polish to CLEAN a black plastic center console.

first, is this true, and if not, what is the best way to clean plastic before you use Back to Black?

interior OR exterior

I didn't see that particular clip, but on glossy coated plastic -- and most glossy plastic interior pieces are coated with acrylic or urethane clear -- Plastic Polish is an excellent choice to remove signs of wear and tear. Granted, one could clean the soil off with a cleaner first, but in some cases one might improvise or take a different approach.

We actually have a major Tier 1 supplier that manufactures these components and they use our Plastic Polish during their quality control checks to fix minor blems from handling during the manufacturing process.

We don't recommend using Back-to-Black on the interior, by the way, as the odor is not pleasant and it can tend to be a little to reflective and isn't suitable for contact surfaces.

thanks dude, I did not know many plastic pieces have a clearcoat on them. I wonder if this is what actually turns white?

one thing that's under-rated and not mentioned a lot in detail guides, is that Mother's Plastic Polish works great on the interior clear gauge faces. most people will use an ammonia-based glass cleaner for the inside of the windshield, then use the damp rag to clean the dash and gauge bezels. as you know, ammonia on clear plastic is a no-no!

Plastic Polish on the instrument cluster lens is generally something you'd only do if it were scratched -- most lenses are tough to polish because of their locale.

Showtime Instant Detailer sprayed on a plush microfiber cloth is probably the first thing to try.

We'll look at including something in the Detail Guide.

Oh, and keep in mind that if it's textured vinyl, use VLR to clean and condition or Protectant to protect -- any polish would not be appropriate on a textured finish.
